What to prepare for first contact
A short description and any existing photos are enough to make an enquiry. Dimensions, known provenance and earlier records are helpful. Mention any deadline. For damage, also provide the timing, circumstances and earlier photographs. Please do not clean or repair the work in preparation for examination.
